Thyself is a private, offline self-help app. It does not have a server, an account system, or analytics. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
Thyself is developed and operated by Nico Pieters Swart (“we”, “us”, the “developer”), the individual developer of the app. If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, contact us at npieterswart@gmail.com.
We do not collect any personal information. The app has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location.
To make the app work, the following information is created and saved locally on your device only, inside the app’s private storage (a local SQLite database). It is never uploaded anywhere:
Because this data lives only on your device, we (the developer) cannot access, read, or recover it. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed with it.
If you allow notifications, the app schedules a single local daily reminder directly on your device using the operating system’s notification system. These reminders are generated on-device — no notification data is sent to us or to any external server. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app’s settings or in your device’s system settings.
The app includes optional buttons that link out to Amazon so you can buy the physical books it recommends. These are affiliate links. When you tap one, your device’s web browser opens the Amazon website, and from that point you are subject to Amazon’s own privacy policy and tracking, not ours. We do not receive any personal information about you through these links; at most we may earn a small affiliate commission on a purchase, which is reported to us by Amazon only as anonymous, aggregated totals. Tapping these links is entirely optional.
The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and no in-app purchases. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not build any profile about you. The app does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, because it does no tracking.
The app is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects no data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, there is nothing for us to delete from our systems, because we hold no data at all.
Since all your data stays on your device and we hold nothing, you are always in full control:
Regulations such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because we hold no personal data about you whatsoever, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase — you already hold and control all of it locally.
Your information is protected by your device’s own security and the operating system’s app sandboxing, which keeps each app’s data private to that app. We recommend keeping your device’s operating system up to date and using a passcode or biometric lock.
Thyself is an educational and self-help tool, not a medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic product. It does not provide medical advice and is not a substitute for professional care. If you are experiencing severe anxiety or distress, please consult a qualified health professional or a local support service.
If we ever change how the app works in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
