Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account or to sign in?

No. There is no sign-up and no login. The app works completely offline and everything stays on your device.

Where is my data stored? Can you see it?

All of your habits, check-ins, and reading progress are stored privately on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to any server, and we have no way to see your information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Why are the later stages locked?

The road is meant to be walked in order. Stage 0 (the science of anxiety) and Stage 1 (Psycho-Cybernetics) are open from the start. Each later stage unlocks when you mark the previous one complete. The library unlocks last.

Why can’t I add my own habits yet?

Habit stacking — adding your own habits — unlocks once you complete Psycho-Cybernetics (Stage 1) and reach Atomic Habits. This is intentional: the app teaches you to build one habit at a time before stacking more.

How does the “Day X of 30” counter work?

It’s based on real calendar dates. A new habit stays at “Day 1 of 30” until the first time you tick it done. From that first day it counts forward by calendar days, whether or not you tick every day. Daily check-ins reset at midnight. After day 30, the counter is replaced by a gentle “Maintain or drop the habit” control.

How do I drop a habit?

Once a habit passes its 30-day trial, tap “drop the habit.” The line changes to “Confirm dropping the habit” — tap a second time within a few seconds to confirm. If you don’t, it relaxes back. Dropping a habit simply hides it; it won’t appear anymore.

I’m not getting my daily reminder.

Make sure notifications are enabled both in the app’s settings and in your device’s system settings for Thyself. The reminder only nudges you if that day’s habits aren’t all ticked yet. Note: if you don’t open the app for more than about a week, reminders pause until you next open it — opening the app reschedules them.

What happens when I tap “Order on Amazon”?

Your web browser opens the book’s page on Amazon so you can buy the physical book. These are affiliate links — any small commission goes back into spreading the app. Tapping them is optional, and once on Amazon you’re subject to Amazon’s own privacy practices.

Is this app medical treatment or therapy?

No. Thyself is an educational and self-help tool, not a medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic product, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are experiencing severe anxiety or distress, please reach out to a qualified health professional or a local support service.

How do I delete all my data?

Because everything is stored locally, simply deleting the app from your device permanently removes all of your data.

Does the app have ads or in-app purchases?

No. There are no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases.
